    Mark learned to sail at the age of 8 on the lakes of Wisconson, taught by his father who attended the Naval Academy and was also a member of the sailing team while he was there.  Mark attended  FAU in Boca Raton Florida where he majored in Marine Biology and helped establish their Center for Sea Turtle Reaserch, messing with sailboats, sailboards & motorcycles in his spare time. He left biology to work for American Honda Motor Company in California for 5 years as lead mechanic & crew chief for Factory Honda Superbike teams, winning 2 Tuner of the Year accolades and 2 national championships. He has been working in the marine industry ever since. Following a brief stint with North Sails in Ft. Lauderdale & West Marine, he joinded Florida Rigging & Hydrolics as a  rigger. There he provided regatta support for Key West Race Week as well as rigging contracting for major yards such as Rybovich, Hinkley & Cracker Boy. All the while accruing extensive sailing experience racing, delivering & crusing. He sailed from Florida to Maine &  back solo & compleated a trans- Atlantic crossing, repairing sails & rigging along the way ( photo above). Mark managed the rigging department at Sailcraft Service, Inc. in Oriental, NC for 8 years before founding Mariner 1 & is currently in the process of re-fitting his J-35.
